Reading for pleasure increases when books are more visible, children have a genuine choice and recommendations come from others around them.

Make book choices visible

Children choose what they can see. Use front-facing covers, themed shelves and try introducing a 'book of the week/month' section, so they can pick a number of your own recommendations for the class.

Let children make recommendations

Protect the reading time
